Outrage over the unexplained death of a black man in Baltimore, Maryland prompted nationwide protests against police brutality on Wednesday from Houston to Boston.

Baltimore has been the scene of near-nightly protests ever since the April 19 death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who is believed to have been fatally injured while in police custody.

However, the most dramatic protests Wednesday night happened in New York City, where a group of activists started an illegal march. According to the New York Post, more than 120 protesters were arrested by police officers trying to maintain order on the streets.

Activists started gathering after 5pm in New York's Union Square, and quickly grew to more than 1,000. All the while, police warned over loud speakers that they would start making arrests if the group moved out of the park.

Cops followed through on that threat when defiant leaders of the group started moving the masses onto the street - blocking traffic during the city's rush hour.

Despite initial clashes with cops, the protest re-grouped several blocks to the west where they started marching northbound on the sidewalk of a major highway. Police appear to have left the protesters pretty much alone, escorting them on their march and only intervening when they stepped out into the streets.

At one point, the group formed a line at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel on the city's west side
- one of the major exits off the island to New Jersey.

The Federal Government has demanded for the repatriation of the corpses of the executed Nigerians in Indonesia.

The Nigerian government expressed its displeasure over the execution of the four Nigerians by the Indonesian authorities over drug-related offences, despite pleas for clemency by President Goodluck Jonathan.

A terse statement on Wednesday from the Public Communications Division of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, gave the names of the executed Nigerians as Martin Anderson, Okwudili Oyatanze, Jaminu Abashin and Sylvester Obiekwe.

The government warned Nigerians to desist from drug trafficking and other offences.

The statement read in part, “The Federal Government of Nigeria has received with deep disappointment, news of the execution of four Nigerians ─ Martin Anderson, Okwudili Oyatanze, Jaminu Abashin and Sylvester Obiekwe ─ by the government of Indonesia for drug-related offences.

“These executions have taken place despite spirited pleas for clemency made at the highest level by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and more recently by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali.

“The Federal Government wishes to express its condolences to the families of the deceased.

“It has asked the Indonesian government for the repatriation of the remains of the executed persons so that they can be accorded decent burials by their various communities.

“Furthermore, government is committed to engage the government of Indonesia and other friendly countries regarding the conclusion of Prisoner Transfer Agreements and other bilateral means of safeguarding the interest and welfare of Nigerians.”

The convicts were reportedly taken to the Nusakambangan Island where they were executed by firing squad on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Indonesia government on Wednesday staunchly defended its execution of seven foreigners including two Australians as a vital front of its “war” on drugs as testimony emerged of how they went singing to their deaths.

First time in history match was played in an empty stadium due to Baltimore unrest

The players of the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox lined up for the national anthem this afternoon in front of an empty stadium, in unprecedented scenes never before witnessed in the history of baseball.

With the National Guard posted outside Camden Yards and thousands of Baltimore residents taking part in a march to city hall, the Orioles played the first ever MLB game behind closed doors.

The players took the field to an otherwise eerily silent stadium with 45,000 empty seats and the Orioles romped home to an 8-2 victory.

Sirens could be heard ringing outside during the game as a reminder the city is still reeling following Monday's tumultuous riots that hit after the funeral of Freddie Gray who died after suffering a fatal injury in police custody.

'Baseball history will be made here today,' said broadcaster Gary Thorne and the game began.

As the sound of ball on bat echoed around the stadium, a first-inning home run was met with only cheers from the Orioles dugout.

The game played out under a huge police presence outside and inside the stadium while fans tried to get a glimpse through iron fences around the ball park.

Indeed, all around the stadium concession stands where hordes of fans would usually line for hot dogs, peanuts and beer were closed, making the picturesque arena resemble a ghost town.

But the only thing missing on a perfect spring afternoon to take in the nation's favorite pastime were the fans.

Transgender teen suicide investigation has been called off

The death of a troubled transgender teenager who begged people to fix society before she stepped in front of a tractor-trailer in Ohio has officially been deemed a suicide.

The State Highway Patrol has closed its investigation into 17-year-old Leelah Alcorn's death.

A patrol report released Wednesday says Leelah left a handwritten note on her bed saying 'I've had enough' and did an online search about runaway assistance and a Tumblr search for the word 'suicide' before walking into traffic on a suburban Cincinnati highway in December.

A note on Leelah's Tumblr blog had said she wanted her death to mean something.

It said: 'Fix society. Please.'

Leelah's selfies and poignant messages hit home among many transgender people who say they've faced disapproving families, discrimination or violence.

Her death prompted vigils, social media discussions and online petitions supporting transgender people.

A Baltimore mother hailed as 'Mom of the year' for clobbering her teenage son and dragging him home from the riots admitted sheepishly on Wednesday: 'My pastor is going to kill me.'

Toya Graham, a single mother-of-six, was caught on camera whacking her 16-year-old son Michael, pulling off his ski mask and chasing him down the street as rioters clashed with police, looted stores and burned down buildings and cars.

The riots broke out following the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray earlier this month who died of a spinal cord injury after being taken into custody by Baltimore police.

Her actions have drawn praise from moms across the country along with the Baltimore police chief who said: 'I wish there were more parents out there who took charge of their kids tonight.'

Miss Graham told CBS on Wednesday that she 'just lost it' when she saw Michael at Monday's riots carrying a rock and walking towards police officers.

She said: 'I recognized those baggy sweatpants and we made eye contact. I was saying ''how dare you do this?'''

Saudi Arabia terror plan attack on U.S embassy disrupted

Saudi Arabia announced the arrest of 93 suspected terrorists with ties to ISIS Tuesday, including two who were allegedly planning a car bomb attack on the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh.

Other potential targets for some of those arrested included residential compounds and prisons.

Authorities said that the potential suicide car bombing at the Embassy involved three individuals -- a Saudi national and two Syrian nationals residing in a Gulf state. The plot was uncovered Mar 13. and authorities took precautions at the Embassy and surrounding area before arresting two suspects the next day.

The timing of the alleged attack coincides with a U.S. decision to halt all consular services for a week starting March 15 at the Embassy and diplomatic missions in Jiddah and Dhahran.

The list of targets recalls a wave of attacks launched by Al Qaeda inside the kingdom from 2004 to 2007, which killed dozens of people, including foreigners, and threatened the stability of one of the world's most important oil-producing nations. Saudi Arabia is also home to Islam's holiest sites, in Mecca and Medina.

Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour al-Turki told the Associated Press there have been five ISIS-related attacks across the kingdom in recent months that have killed 15 civilians and security personnel. But he said Saudis have largely ignored ISIS’s calls to take up arms against their government and attack the Shiite minority, security forces and foreigners living in the kingdom.

"We do have a number of people who do respond to such calls and do try to carry out such terrorist organizations' orders, but these people do not represent the Saudi population, do not represent the 20 million Saudis," he said in remarks to the AP a day before the announcement of the arrests, which took place over several months.

Indonesia execute 8 prisoners with drugs related offences

The Indonesia government has executed 8 people condemned to death for drug related offences including 4 Nigerians despite plea.

Indonesia however spared one out of the 9 people convicted people at the last minute, a Filipino woman, Mary Jane Veloso, after a woman accused of tricking her into carrying drugs turned herself into police in the Philippines on Tuesday.

According to reports, the execution took place at the Nusakambangan island at midnight Indonesia time by 12 police privates .

Bomb blast in kogi TAO FM 4 feared dead

There was a bomb blast on TAO FM in Okene, Kogi State, last night at about 8pm which had 4 people, suspected to be security personnel killed.

The radio station which was located at the centre of Okene town, which is the headquarters of Kogi Central Senatorial District has been reduced to nothing. The radio station which broadcasts mainly in Ebira language was popularly known for its radical stance on politics of the people of Ebira.

Kogi state Police Public Relations Officer, Shola Collins, confirmed the incident said that police detectives had already been mobilized to the scene of the incident.

The reason for bombing the radio station was not known as no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The bomb explosion destroyed the radio station at about 8pm on Monday 27th April.

The police have promised to capture the perpetuators of this crime and are currently investigating the case.

AIT barred by President elect

Security advisers of the President-Elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on Monday barred the television crew of the African Independent Television from covering the activities of their principal until further notice.

It was gathered that the security team cited adverse security reports and ethical issues as reasons for their action.

Members of the AIT crew, who were at Defence House, venue of a meeting between the President-elect and a visiting Cuban delegation, led by its Ambassador to Nigeria, were asked to leave the vicinity until further notice.


The crew, who did not speak on record, insisted they would remain and continue to do their jobs because they had yet to be “formally informed.”

“Yes, we were told but we cannot just leave; we have a job to do. In any case, we have not been officially informed about what we have done wrong,” one of them said.

Director of Press of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mallam Garba Shehu, confirmed the development.

He said concerns over security and the need to sort out some ethical issues were responsible for the action.

Shehu said, “AIT has been asked to stay aside based on security and family concerns. In addition, General Buhari has decided that they will have to resolve some issues relating to issues of standard and ethics.

“We will be talking with them to try and resolve the matter but for now, the station has been asked to stay aside because, like I said, there are some family and security concerns.


“They have been asked to step down their coverage until we resolve the matter with them on

ethics and standards.”

25 year old Aladi Sule was attacked with acid by her ex-lover, Kazeem Abdullahi, a few weeks ago in Kogi state. According to the story told by , Ladi and the man who attacked her had been lovers since secondary school.

When she fell pregnant, the couple decided to live together but unfortunately the child died. Then when they began to have problems, the man married someone else, prompting Ladi to leave the house. Then the man came begging but her family demanded that he marry her properly first before she moves back in with her.

 While they were making wedding preparations, the man rented a house for Ladi, who also managed to get some money to start a fruits shop. Eventually, the man decided he no longer wanted to marry Ladi and asked her to pack out from the home he rented for her. When Ladi refused, he threatened to deal with her and destroy the 'beauty' sh was using to pose around town. Aladi didn't take him serious.

Then he showed how serious he was. A few weeks ago, Kazeem came to her house in the middle of the night and attacked her with acid. Kazeem was arrested but released three days later after his family agreed to pay the medical bills for Aladi who is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State.

Fake pastors everywhere be vigilant

Wonders shall never end. A 32-year-old cleric, Pastor Abel Benard Aniude of Trimphant Kings Assembly, Enugu, has been nabbed by police detectives for allegedly duping a 25-year-old lady, Ojiaku Chiamaka of N4 million.

 The pastor was said to have wooed Chiamaka on facebook in December 2013 and promised her marriage. Using preparations for the marriage as a bait, he allegedly swindled the lady over N4m.

 He was arrested by police detectives at his No 42 Odudukoko street, Gariki Awkunanaw, Enugu State on April 13 following complaints filed by the victim.

 Confession
 Giving details of what transpired between him and Chiamaka, Pastor Aniude told Saturday Sun: I am an Assistant Pastor with Triumphant Kings Assembly. I have been in ministry for five years now. I am jobless.

 I met Chiamaka on facebook in December, 2013. I promised to marry her. Then, she started sending money to my bank account in Enugu. I visited her at Ibadan twice and collected the sum of N1million from her.

 I have to send my wife away with my two kids from my house to Aba. When I told my wife that I wanted to marry a second wife but she refused, that prompted me to send her packing.

 I used part of the money Chiamaka was sending to buy a car and built a bungalow in my village at Nochele Ndeaboli in Aliri Local Government Area, Enugu State.

 I deceived her that I wanted to marry her on Christmas day, December 25, 2014. I also lied to her that I had a motor accident. I rescheduled it for February 14, 2015. I lied to her again that armed robbers attacked me. I rescheduled it for Easter period, April 4, 2015 before the police anti-kidnappers squad arrested my wife, my Pastor Sam Ezenagu before I was arrested.

 Victim Recounts Ordeal
 In her own account of the scam, Chiamaka explained: I met Pastor Abel Bernard Aniude on facebook in December 2013 and we started chatting on facebook. Pastor Abel deceived me that he wanted to marry me. I worked in the shop of my brother, Emmauel Ojiaku who sells electronics in Ibadan. I started to send N700,000 and N300,000 to Pastor Abel through his UBA and Diamond account numbers.

 In July 2014, Pastor Abel came to Ibadan and lodged in a hotel and after having sex with me, I gave him N300,000. Also on September, 2014, Pastor Abel came to Ibadan and lodged again in same hotel and after having sex me, I gave him N700,000. I dont known how I ended up sending N4 million into his bank accounts.

 She pleaded that her brother should forgive her. My family should forgive me. I was deceived. I

have learnt my lesson in a hard way, she cried.
